INTRODUCTION
------------

NoiseMaker Pocket is a software to create melodys and drum parts on the Pocket PC.

With the NoiseMaker Upgrade the Pocket PC tracks can be used on the PC, e. g. for midi export.
The NoiseMaker PC Version and the Upgrade can be obtained from

      http://www.noisemakerpocket.com

The handling of NoiseMaker Pocket is quite similar to the NoiseMaker PC version.

Because there are no built in midi instruments in common Pocket PC's by now, some additional samples are installed together with NoiseMaker Pocket.

By editing the file 'instruments.txt' it is possible to add other *.wav files for the use within NoiseMaker Pocket.

NoiseMaker Pocket was tested on a Compaq AERO 1550 and a HP Journada.

INSTALLATION:
-------------

Connect your Pocket PC to your desktop PC and start the Setup file on the desktop PC.

About 5 MB of the Pocket PC's Memory is required for a full installation.
Think about installing on a memory card.

At the first start of NoiseMaker Pocket all samples will be moved to a sub folder and the file 'instruments.txt' will be auto adjusted to fit your configuration.

Now you can select the instruments 'GM Drums' and 'Piano' within the menu Options/Instr.

To test the installation just tap on the piano keys on the pocket pc's display.

NO SOUND:
---------

Activate the sound playback for programs within your pocket pc's system setup.
Please also check the playback volume.

If you still can hear no sound there might be a problem with the sounds installation.

Open the file 'instruments.txt' (in the NoiseMakerPocket main directory on your PPC).
Check if all file paths are set correctly and show the real path to the installed samples.
If not you can edit the file and set the correct paths to the sounds.

ADDING NEW INSTRUMENTS:
-----------------------

By editing the file 'instruments.txt' you can also add new instruments to NoiseMaker Pocket.

A Instrument entry starts with the line INSTRUMENT
the next line is the name of the instrument
followed by the paths to the sounds
An instrument entry is closed with the line END

Example:

INSTRUMENT
System Sounds
/Windows/Alarm1.wav
/Windows/Alarm2.wav
/Windows/Alarm3.wav
/Windows/Alarm4.wav
/Windows/Alarm5.wav
/Windows/Asterisk.wav
/Windows/Critical.wav
/Windows/Default.wav
END

Use a text editor to add the 11 lines above to the end of the file 'instruments.txt'
Restart NoiseMaker Pocket.
Now you can select the additional instrument 'System Sounds' within the menu Options/Instr.

Attention: No blank lines are allowed within the file 'instruments.txt'.

NoiseMaker Pocket supports up to 5 different instruments.
